Mullein Verbascum phoeniceum 'Southern Charm' is a charming perennial that delights with its upright flower stems and pastel-colored flowers ranging from rose to ivory. This variety reaches a height of 60 to 90 cm and blooms from late May to July, often with a second bloom in September. The decorative flowers not only attract the eye, but also beneficial insects to the garden. 'Southern Charm' prefers a sunny to semi-shaded location and thrives best in well-drained, slightly sandy soil. This easy-care plant is hardy and ideal for perennial beds or as a cut flower. A real eye-catcher for any garden!
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Growing in a pot is recommended. Many seeds are formed. Biennial plants do not flower until the 2nd year. Planting distance varies depending on the species. Can also be sown directly on a dry day in the fall. Birds like to eat the seeds. Mullein is hardy, but annual species will of course still die. Good neighbors: pipe grass, catnip. Only ever use one species in the garden, as mullein interbreeds.
