Description

Beet "Tondo (or Tonda) di Chioggia" is an Italian specialty with a long tradition. A fast-growing, high-yielding variety that stores well and also grows easily in our gardens. Characteristic is the bright light red color with white rings inside. About 6 cm in diameter. Tondo di Choggia are tender and unobtrusive, have a sweet and less earthy taste than normal beet can be eaten raw or cooked. The leaves can also be eaten raw or cooked (like chard). The variety is very storable.

Growing tips

Requires loose soil and plenty of moisture, but does not want to be too wet. From germination to harvest is about 60 days. The soil should be moderately fertilized. Separate after emergence.
