Olive herb also known as green cypress herb, green-leaved, cypress herb, rosemary-leaved saint's herb and green saint's flower, belongs to the family of composite plants (Asteraceae). It is grown as a seasoning herb, ornamental and medicinal plant. The taste of the leaves reminds of pickled olives. The hardy shrub is evergreen and grows branched, bushy up to 70 cm high. From June to about August form the cup-shaped, small, yellow flowers, which also smell of olives. You can harvest the aromatic leaves of the olive herb continuously.
Herkunft:
Mediterranean
Likes nutrient-poor, calcareous and well-drained soil. The leaves can be harvested continuously by cutting off the whole shoot tips. The herb can be propagated by cuttings, cuttings or rootstock division, but these should only be planted after the last frosts. Does not need to be grown in advance, can also be grown in containers. Cold germinator, requires temperatures between 4-8°C. Water only a little, as the herb is very sensitive to waterlogging. Cut back 1/3 after flowering, as well as lignified areas.
