The Nawasi (often also called Nawasi Thambili) is a traditional coconut variety from Sri Lanka that belongs to the "King Coconuts" (Thambili) group. It is particularly known for its sweet liquid and use in Ayurvedic medicine.
F1 Hybrid
The coconut palm thrives best in tropical climates with high temperatures, plenty of sunlight and well-drained, sandy soil. It requires high humidity and regular watering, but does not tolerate waterlogging. Germination takes place from the whole nut, which is half buried in the soil. A sheltered location with sufficient space for root growth is ideal. As coconut palms are salt-tolerant, they grow well near the coast. Regular fertilization with potassium and magnesium promotes growth and fruit formation.
