Description

Robust with narrow, shiny dark green, ribbed fruits. Non-climbing. From Croatia. Germination after 7-10 days 18-24°C.

Growing tips

2-3 seeds when propagating, only set out the strongest plant. Harden off before planting out. Likes warm, sheltered locations. Sensitive to frost. Several plants pollinate each other. Harvest regularly so that new fruits continue to form. Fertilize and water regularly. Observe crop rotation. Home-grown zucchini seeds are strongly discouraged because they can produce the toxic bitter substance cucurbitacin. Mixed cultivation with borage promotes pollination. Pumpkins and zucchinis of the same species can cross-pollinate, making zucchinis bitter and inedible or poisonous (due to so-called curcurbitacins).
