Description

This root vegetable from the cruciferous family has a pungent taste. There are diverse varieties that differ in size, color and shape, as well as duration of cultivation.

Origin:

Presumed descent from the hederich (wild radish) from the Near East.

Growing tips

Summer radish should be sown from April to the beginning of August, fall radish from the beginning of July to the end of August. Summer radish is ready to harvest after approx. 8-10 weeks, winter radish usually only after 13-15 weeks. If it is harvested too late, the radish will become furry and woody.
