Description

Over the course of a year, it develops into an impressive plant up to 2 m high with a pleasant fragrance. The young leaves are very tasty in salads. Slow food, as it takes at least 10 months from sowing to harvesting the beets. Tubers are white on the inside, ochre on the outside, and approx. 5-8 cm long and 3-4 cm thick. Can be eaten raw or cooked, with a delicate taste of potatoes and chestnuts and a subtle spiciness of celery and parsnip.

Non hybrid

Frostproof

Growing tips

Frost germinator, should therefore be sown in the fall of the previous year. Fresh, moist spots in partial shade are strongly preferred. The soil should be moist, deep, well-drained, with plenty of sand and humus. Hoe regularly to protect against weeds (weak competitor) and ensure even soil moisture. It is a weak eater, so fertilize only a little.
