This fragrant lavender was developed in the Mediterranean region in 1911. It is a prolific flowering and fragrant variety of lavender. The plant has proven itself to be an expressive aromatic shrub. It has compact growth and deep purple flowers. Thanks to its compact, bushy growth, 'Dwarf Blue' lavender is also suitable for edging borders and beds. With a spacing of 20 to 30 cm between individual plants, a dense, fragrant lavender hedge quickly develops. The flowers form spikes, which are enchanting in deep purple in this variety. They tower above the silvery-green foliage that adorns the plant all year round. Lavender 'Dwarf Blue' prefers a sunny spot and well-drained, not too moist soil. Fertilizer is unnecessary for plants of this type.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Lavender is a warmth-loving semi-shrub. It therefore likes a sunny, warm location. It prefers a nutrient-poor soil that is well-drained and does not become waterlogged, especially in winter. If the soil is too wet, the lavender can freeze. To ensure that the semi-shrub blooms beautifully every year, you need to cut it back regularly. To do this, cut off the faded stems in the fall. The second pruning takes place in spring. Old woody parts are removed here. Otherwise, lavender is very easy to care for and undemanding.
