Forms red-white, medium-firm heads. When forcing with topsoil or sand, the heads become firmer. Root harvest in October, forcing can be done throughout the winter. Chicory harvest December-February.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
If possible, use nitrogen-poor, deep soil in a sunny location (if the nitrogen content of the soil is too high, the beets will be too large and will only form loose heads when sprouting). Germination after approx. 1 week at approx. 16°C. Harvest beets from October onwards with an optimum beet diameter of 3-5 cm, remove leaves, leave only the heart (2 cm). Stack the roots in a cool room for storage and protect them from drying out (at least 1 week, keep the roots cool until you want to sprout them). Forcing with cover soil from November to February: Place the roots in a container approx. 30-40 cm deep, cover with moist sand or soil (10 cm) and leave in a dark room (important for tender, low-bitter shoots) at approx. 15-20°C for 3-5 weeks. Further pinching out is possible with careful harvesting.
