This variety produces large, yellow-green, firm, almost bitter-free heads. Root harvest possible from October, chicory harvest from the cellar / dark from late November / December until spring.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Harvest the roots for forcing from October (frost-hardy to -5°C) and cut off the foliage approx. 3 to 5 cm above the roots. Stack the roots for storage (min. 1 week dormant period) in a cool room/sand and protect from drying out. Forcing: From November/December in a large flower pot with moist sand. Turn a flower pot upside down as a lid. It should be dark and warm (12-18°C), then the more or less large buds will grow. Tip: If sown too early or given too much space, the roots sometimes become too large; although they can then be shortened so that they can be placed in the forcing pots, they often form many small side buds when forcing. In addition, too early sowing leads to an increase in shoots whose roots are unsuitable for forcing. If sown too late or too closely, there will be many small roots that are hardly worth the effort of forcing.
