Giant pumpkin from the grower Dill. Has won records (eg, European record in 2009 with about 650 kilos). With normal culture about 80-100 kg with about 100 cm ø. Edible pumpkin. Vigorous and strong growing. Tasty, orange-yellow flesh with light orange skin. For preserving (sweet and sour), for soups, jam, breads, cakes, as a vegetable with meat and fish. Ripened fruits have a hard skin for carving masks for Halloween and for lanterns. Can be stored frost-free and dry for several months. Germination after 8-14 days at 18-22°C.
Non hybrid
For particularly large pumpkins, leave only one fruit on the plant. Water and fertilize regularly. Pre-cultivation produces fruit earlier. Do not damage the roots when planting out. Protect the fruit from rotting as it grows. When storing the fruits, they should not touch each other. For pre-cultivation: Pre-soak the seeds for 12 hours in room temperature water. Place individually, pointed side first, in small pots with moist potting compost so that the seed end is still slightly visible. Cover with cling film with holes in it. Protects from drying out. Remove the foil for 2 hours every 2-3 days to prevent mold growth. Place in a bright and warm place. Keep moist, but not wet.
