Blue-gray kabocha squash with yellow-ochre-brown flesh. Hokkaido variety. Becomes about 1-2 kg in weight. Climbing with about 4-5 fruits. Very good, nutty flavor that becomes more intense when ripe. Skin is edible. Shelf life up to 6 months. Germination after 7-14 days at 22°C.
Non hybrid
Sensitive to frost at temperatures <10°C. Prefers a sheltered, sunny location. Water and fertilize regularly. Pre-cultivation is recommended as this brings an earlier harvest. The seeds can be pre-swollen and then planted in the soil with the tip pointing downwards. Harden off before planting out. Harvest the fruits until the first frost.
