Description

Simply sweet! It really resembles a currant - not only in size and dainty arrangement of bright red berries. Also by its juicy and excellent sweet taste, deviating from the usual tomato flavor, it is more reminiscent of a berry. Wild tomato from the Andes is worth finding a place in the garden as a snack fruit. It bears very abundantly, grows luxuriantly and is particularly resistant to diseases, including the dreaded blight. The fruits ripen relatively early and the harvest period is very long. Red Currant rarely exceeds a height of 1.50 m, but takes up to a meter in width, as it grows very bushy.

Growing tips

Optimum germination temperature at a constant 18-22 °C. Germination period approx. 7-12 days. The Red Currant is suitable for growing in greenhouses, outdoors, but also in containers on balconies or terraces. As a wild tomato variety, it is also particularly resistant to blossom end rot, late blight and other diseases, so it can be grown outdoors without rain protection. This variety does not require pinching out, but some manufacturers recommend breaking out a few side shoots. The plants need to be held up by rods or strings.
