Dark green, round, slightly ribbed, aromatic fruit. Harvest early, as the skin is then soft (about 10-15 cm). Firm flesh, popular for fillings. Open growth. Little susceptible to powdery mildew. Particularly rare, old variety. Germination after 7-14 days at 18-25°C. Do not eat bitter tasting fruits!
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
As zucchinis are often affected by mildew, staggered sowing is recommended. Harden off before planting out. Likes warm, sheltered locations. Sensitive to frost. Several plants pollinate each other. Harvest regularly so that new fruits continue to form. Fertilize and water regularly. Observe crop rotation. Home-grown zucchini seeds are strongly discouraged because they can produce the toxic bitter substance cucurbitacin. Mixed cultivation with borage promotes pollination. Pumpkins and zucchinis of the same species can cross-pollinate, making zucchinis bitter and inedible or poisonous (due to so-called curcurbitacins).
