This root vegetable from the cruciferous family has a pungent taste. There are diverse varieties that differ in size, color and shape, as well as duration of cultivation.

Vermutliche Abstammung vom Hederich (Wildrettich) aus Vorderasien.
Summer radish should be sown from April to early August, autumn radish from early July to late August. After about 8-10 weeks summer radish is ready for harvest, winter radish usually after 13-15 weeks. If harvested too late, the radish becomes furry and woody.
