Description

Kohlrabi is a fast-growing spring vegetable from the cruciferous family. The above-ground tuber is a thickening of the shoot axis. There are many varieties that differ in color (green, white, purple), shape (oval, round, platy), size, duration of cultivation and time of cultivation.

Growing tips

Due to its short cultivation period, kohlrabi is a good pre-, inter- and post-crop. Uniform water supply is important for good tuber formation. Drought or uneven moisture promotes lignification. You should maintain a 3-4 year growing interval to other cruciferous crops. Harvesting extends over a few weeks, as not all tubers mature at the same time.
