Description

Very fine flavor. Very productive. Needs a lot of compost. Traditional, proven variety Does not tolerate night frost. Do not keep too moist when germinating. Plant outdoors with 3 leaves. Germination after 10-14 days at 18-20°C.

Harden off before planting out. Likes warm, sheltered locations. Sensitive to frost. Several plants pollinate each other. Harvest regularly to ensure that new fruits continue to form. Fertilize and water regularly. Observe crop rotation. Home-grown zucchini seeds are strongly discouraged because they can produce the toxic bitter substance cucurbitacin. Mixed cultivation with borage promotes pollination. Pumpkins and zucchinis of the same species can cross-pollinate, making zucchinis bitter and inedible or poisonous (due to so-called curcurbitacins).
