This old bell pepper variety produces an abundance of elongated, slightly curled and wrinkled fruits over 20 cm long, which are ideal for roasting. Their firm flesh has a sweet, delicately spicy, fruity and smoky flavor. This old variety from Italy has been cultivated by the Nardello family in Connecticut (USA) since 1887, who emigrated to the United States from the southern Italian village of Ruoti. The plants grow up to 70 cm tall when the peppers, which can be up to 25 cm long, hang down, a curious sight. The variety is also very suitable for outdoor cultivation. It can also be found as a chili, although it produces little to no heat.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Maturity time: 55-65 days. Sow the seeds on the surface of moist, well-drained sowing soil and cover lightly with sieved substrate. Place the pots in a propagator or similar until germination. Cultivate at a temperature of 20-25°C. A bright location promotes germination. After the last frosts, plant out in loose soil in a sunny spot with sufficient moisture. Can be cultivated both outdoors and in pots. Further cultivation tips for the type of bell pepper.
