Description

'Bhut Jolokia' originates from the Assam region in India and is a naturally evolved hybrid of the species Capsicum chinense and Capsicum frutescens. Many different names have come into use in the Assam region and the states bordering it, but they all basically describe the same variety (with only minimal variations): Naga or Bih Jolokia, Naga Morich, Raja Chili, Moresh, Mircha and many more. Until 2011, the Bhut Jolokia was the world record holder of the hottest chili with over 1 million SHU for a relatively long time.

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

Early pre-growing possible from January, as it takes a long time until the fruits are ready for harvest. Keep at 25° until germination (first 2 weeks after sowing), then continue growing at 15°. During pre-cultivation, 16 hours of light should be guaranteed with a cultivation lamp. Sprinkle with a complete fertilizer after growth, or add chicken manure slurry to the soil 4-6 weeks before planting out. Only plant in a sheltered, sunny position (ideally in a greenhouse).
