Description

This wonderfully sweet-fruited, aromatic beef tomato has flat-round more or less strongly ribbed fruits. They have a thin skin and soft, juicy flesh. The typical coloration is orange-red with yellow marbling, both on the skin and inside. They are relatively few, but large fruits with average weight of 200-300g, sometimes up to 450g. It ripens very late, so protected cultivation is recommended. Best grown outdoors with a canopy, but also in a greenhouse. Grow to about 2m tall. Due to their delicious, fruity aroma with little acidity, pineapple tomatoes are particularly suitable for fresh consumption, dressed with mozzarella, basil and a little salt and pepper.

Growing tips

The plants grow best outdoors under a canopy, but can also be grown in a greenhouse. They grow to a height of around 2 meters. Tomatoes need warm temperatures between 20-25°C to germinate. After germination, keep them cooler (max. 20°C). Sowing before March can lead to a lack of light and poorer plant growth. When pricking out, plant deeper down to the cotyledons so that the plants can develop new roots. Harden off before planting out. Fertilize regularly and water evenly. Should be thinned out. Tie or fix the main shoot in particular, as it could otherwise break off due to the heavy fruit. A location protected from rain is advantageous.
