Organic American flag leak is a classic leak and the predominant choice for home gardeners. A close relative of both onion and garlic, leaks are most commonly used in soups and stew, but can also be used effectively in salads.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
For an early harvest, it can be grown indoors from January / February. Sowing depth: approx. 1.5 cm, germination: 2 - 3 weeks at 16 - 20°C. Keep cooler after germination: 12 - 14°C. Once they have reached a length of a good 20, they can be planted out. To do this, shorten the leaves and roots slightly. Plant the plants as deep into the soil as possible so that long, white shafts develop. Row spacing: 30 cm, plant spacing: 10 cm. Leeks love sunny locations in nutrient-rich soil (heavy feeders). It is best to prepare the soil with rotted manure or compost before planting. This leek variety can remain in the garden until mid-winter. Maturing time: about 130 days.
