Winter leek. Slow growing, medium green and sturdy. For overwintering. Tolerates heavier frosts, stems relatively slowly in spring. Sow in May for spring harvest. Good flavor. Germination after 10-20 days at 18-20°C. (From Sativa).
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Thrives in a sunny or semi-shady spot. When planting out, place approx. 10 cm deep in the soil. Harden off beforehand if necessary. The white stems become longer by mounding. Fertilize for the last time in August, otherwise winter hardiness will suffer. In the event of frost and very cold weather, cover the beds with fleece. Good for soil health by loosening the soil from the leek roots. Take a break from cultivation (approx. 3-4 years).
