Frostproof
Onion sets take about a month less to harvest than sown onions. Onion sets are planted deep enough into the soil between March and April so that a small part of the tip is still sticking out. To prevent the bulbs from coming to the surface again after planting, it is best to place them in water one night before planting so that they are heavier. Otherwise they may be pushed upwards by the moisture in the bed.
