Thymian ist eine Gewürzpflanze aus der Familie der Lippenblütler. Er bevorzugt einen hellen, trockenen und eher nährstoffarmen Standort.
Thyme also thrives in poor, sandy soil. It is a light germinator, so the seeds should not be covered with soil. It is worth starting seedlings in advance, as the seeds are very fine and are otherwise easily outcompeted in the bed.
