Old date tomato from Sicily, "Datterino" means "small date". Particularly sweet, intensely red, date-shaped fruit growing in long panicles, burst-resistant, high-yielding with good shelf life (harvested in whole bunches). They grow to a height of up to 1.80 m. Medium to late ripening, the longer they are allowed to ripen, the sweeter the fruit. In Italy, they are often used to make pasta sauce, the consistency of the flesh is also quite suitable for this, it contains few watery parts and is highly concentrated and tomato-dense.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Cover the seeds only lightly with soil (max. 5 mm). The optimum germination temperature is between 20 and 25°C and germination takes place after 8 - 14 days. It is suitable for cultivation in greenhouses, in protected outdoor areas, but also in containers on balconies or terraces and prefers a warm, sunny location. For good growth, it is recommended to cultivate the variety with a maximum of three shoots and to prune it regularly. A climbing aid is recommended.
