Growing tips

'Yellow Pearshaped' grows to a height of around 150 cm and can be grown in a greenhouse, in sheltered, preferably covered outdoor areas and in large containers. Plenty of sun, water and soil nutrients increase the yield. Germination in 7-14 days at 20-25°C. For better germination, pre-soak the seed in a damp cloth for 48 hours and then sow. After the two cotyledons have developed, prick out in pots, but do not plant out in the open until mid-May. Set the root ball deep, as secondary roots form on the main stem. Provide support immediately, e.g. stakes or twine. Break out emerging side shoots from the leaf axils immediately. Break off the tip above the 5th-6th inflorescence. After harvesting the first lower bunch of fruit, remove the foliage close to the ground to prevent the spread of fungal diseases. Fruit harvested unripe in the fall will ripen easily at 18-30° C. Never plant tomatoes in the immediate vicinity of potatoes, because the brown rot disease of potatoes also spreads to tomatoes. Further growing tips for the species Cocktail vine tomato
