Description

Shakira is a very adaptable and robust variety of hot peppers, which can be cultivated in the greenhouse and outdoors. The plants bear very many, slender, pointed, 19-21 cm long and 2-3 cm wide fruits. These ripen early from dark green to red, becoming pungent and spicy. The pungency level of the ripe fruits ranges from 5 to 7. This F1 hybrid is resistant to tobacco mosaic virus. Germination after 10-14 days at 22-25°C. (From Kiepenkerl).

Growing tips

Cover the seeds only lightly with soil to germinate, keep them evenly moist but not wet and warm (min. 20°C, preferably 25°C). A bright location is also important. Keep slightly cooler after germination. Prick out as soon as 2-4 true leaves are present. Harden off before planting out. When the first fruits begin to form, fertilize about once a week. An even supply of water is also important. The first flower can be broken off to encourage the formation of further fruit. Locations sheltered from the wind are advantageous. Support shoots if necessary.
