Description

This compact cucumber variety produces an abundance of fruits 15-18 cm long, which are best picked young. Their white skin turns yellow-orange when fully ripe. Its crunchy flesh offers a sweet taste without bitterness. This old variety was passed down from the Boothby family of Livermore, Maine, USA. It may be a descendant of the white cucumber variety introduced as 'Lettuce' in 1920 by the Aggeler and Musser seed company in Los Angeles. Sowing: Sow cucumber in seed trays or pots about 6 weeks before transplanting outside. Cultivate at a temperature of 20°C. The germination period is 12 to 16 days. Care: After the last frost, transplant the seedlings with the entire root balls into compost enriched soil. Planting distance 1 m in all directions. Outdoor sowing is possible under the same conditions, when the soil is well warmed and the outside temperature no longer falls below 15°C.
