This cucumber/cornichon variety is very productive, with short, green fruits no larger than 12 cm, which can be eaten candied or in salads. It is resistant to cucumber mosaic and the fungus Cladosporium cucumerinum and is suitable for both open field and pot cultivation. It is a very old variety that was introduced in the USA in 1929.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Germination temperature approx. 18-20°C. As cucumbers are quite sensitive to the cold, you should only plant them out after the Ice Saints. They also have a high heat requirement during growth, and a constant water supply is also necessary. Stress conditions such as temperature fluctuations, lack of water or frequent touching lead to the formation of bitter substances. A cultivation break of 3-4 years should be observed. Cucumbers must be able to hold on, as they form long tendrils (2-4 m). Regular harvesting increases the yield as more new flowers are formed.
