Description

Spinach-like vegetable, creeping, thick-leaved plant that can be harvested all summer like spinach, because it does not shoot like spinach at high temperatures. Slow to develop when young, but then grows rapidly. Ground cover and "as a living mulch." Bushy, herbaceous plants. Grows to about 50 cm tall. Strong, intense flavor. Preparation like spinach. Sensitive to frost, but seeds survive winter. Little susceptible to pests and diseases.

Non hybrid

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

Pre-soak the seeds for 24 hours. Keep moist. Foil cover helpful. Long germination period. Belongs to the Aizoaceae family, so no problems with crop rotation or mixed cultivation. Good neighbors are cabbages such as tomatoes. Can be harvested continuously from July. Regular, but not complete, harvesting promotes the development of new shoots. Propagated by seed.
