Description

"Pineapple" convinces as XXL flesh tomato. Thus, it reaches a fruit weight of up to 450 g. Since it ripens very late, protected cultivation is recommended. The fruits turn from yellow to pink and get a marbled flesh. Germination after 7-14 days at 18-25°C. (From N.L. Chrestensen).

Growing tips

Loosen the soil, keep weed-free, water and fertilize regularly, avoid waterlogging, provide support, break out side shoots regularly. Sunny, humus-rich, nutrient-rich, moist, deep soil, sheltered from the wind. (From N.L. Chrestensen). Tomatoes need warm temperatures between 20-25°C for germination. After germination, place in a cooler place (max. 20°C). Sowing before March can lead to a lack of light and poorer plant growth. When pricking out, plant deeper down to the cotyledons so that the plants can develop new roots. Harden off before planting out. Basil (against mildew and whitefly) and marigolds (against nematodes, viruses, whitefly) have proven to be good companion plants. (From Biogartenbedarf).
