For an even earlier harvest, you can also sow spring onions in the fall. Spring onions have no problem with frost and snow. In spring, the onion plants can start growing immediately and thus reach harvest size more quickly. Spring onions are weak growers. Fertilize sparingly, if at all, as a high nutrient supply leads to a bland taste.
