Description

`Di Sicilia Violetto` is a special variety with its purple color. Forms vigorous, fast-growing plants. Early cultivation possible due to good cold tolerance. Planting possible until summer for late harvests. Strong taste. Germination after 4-7 days at 10-15°C. Planting and harvesting very variable from summer - winter depending on the grower.

Growing tips

Thin out or prick out after germination. Plant out at the end of March/April or 5 weeks after sowing. For beautiful, white heads, protect with the leaves (tie up if necessary). For overwintering: Sow from mid/late August to early September. The bed should be as cool as possible, shaded if necessary; in October if overwintering in a protected cold frame or greenhouse; protect from pests: Planting of rue or sage, establishment of beneficial insects (parasitic wasps, songbirds), alternatively: cabbage collars, insect protection nets with a mesh size of 0.8 mm.
